Living almost exactly half way between Bloxworth and Lyndhurst, Evie or I often rock up to Wessex TR Register events at the Sir Walter Tyrell in the New Forest. It’s a short blast down the A31 from ours, and it’s always good to connect with the membership beyond our home group.
Wessex had extended an invitation to Dorset to join their annual BBQ and bring and buy sale, so it was an easy win to attend. Evie has had her fill of classic car catering for now, so I took TS2 on my own.
The Wessex Group Leader was customarily specific about where we park, and TS2 was proud to be given pride of place in the centre of the field.
Fêted by banners and flanked by flags, TS2 caught plenty of eyes from the membership, and I was pleased to reconnect with Ian Evans from Malvern.
With good company and the conversation flowing between the groups, I barely noticed it getting dark, and was surprised at the end of the night to find the sun had fallen out of the sky. With the weather turning towards rain, I left the pub (stopping briefly to photograph the exit) and bolted home along the A31.
The 60mph dash of dual carriageway in the dark was a good chance to test the wipers properly, and I’m pleased to note they clear the screen very effectively. I checked the carpets for damp when I put TS2 away, but the spotting hadn’t really gone beyond the windscreen.
I’m definitely falling for this car.
