The weekend comes, and with it a significant date.
No, not just the Canford Classic and Supercar event (though, I’ll admit we have both been looking forward to showing off TS2 to the crowds there). Its our 19th wedding anniversary.
But, what do you get the girl who says she already has everything she needs? And it goes paper, cotton, leather, linen, wood, iron… china for 20, but what’s the 19th? Well, in this house, its nickel and trivalent chromed rings. Specifically, ten rings, in an array of sizes, from 5/16ths to 7/8ths. My advice? You find a lady who wants spanners for an anniversary gift, you marry her.

So. Gifts exchanged, flowers given, engine warmed and off we go to Canford. Free breakfast with our exhibitor ticket, so no need to hang about. Evie in the driving seat. TS2 chirruping along most merrily.
Must confess the day took a turn for the worse upon arrival at the School. “Sorry, we’ve run out of the vegetarian”, rapidly followed by “Sorry. We don’t have any decaf.” Ok, another 90 mins until breakfast finishes, no vehicle movement permitted for the next six hours and there’s literally nothing to eat or drink. We are fully conditioned to the slightly old fashioned “bacon roll and a coffee” mentality of the classic car community, and it won’t be the first time this week we’ve found the veggie option is the meat option, with the meat removed. Perhaps we were wrong to expect a little more modernism from a venue priding itself on diversity and preparation for the future.
No matter. A change of shoes and we can walk the 2 mile river path to Wimborne. It’s very picturesque, and the town is both extremely pretty and well furnished with eateries aware of the recent change of century.
Supplies and mood restored, we wandered back to the show to connect with Dorset TR Register members and new friends.

TS2 was resplendent, soaking up the sunshine and catching discerning eyes. “That’s a TR2. The first of the British Triumph TRs” I hear one man explain to his colleague.
“It’s the first of the British TRs, and a TR2” I proffer in return.
We’ve made up an info sheet to explain the distinction between the TR2 as the first model in the TR series, and TS2 as the first home market TR2 produced.
The info sheet also talks of the plan ahead, and we were pleased at the amount of well wishes we received. Word has clearly begun to get around.
We left just before 4pm, buoyed along by friendly waves and good luck wishes. TS2 rolled onto the drive with 89,999 miles indicated.
